I have found a fix for the web player! After dealing with this for over a year, I tried again today with success. It was happening on all of my PC's after updating divx on both firefox and IE. I can't believe how many hours I spent to find this. For the record, I had this narrowed down to the reg key

(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WindowsCurrentVersion\Internet Settings)

"ProxyEnable"=dword:00000001

(This is the key from a non working system, changing the Dword to all zeros is the fix or uncheck the boxes below)

before relating it to these two stupid checkboxes.

Go to Control Panel --> Internet Options --> Connections --> LAN Settings --> Uncheck "use a proxy server for your LAN" and "Bypass proxy server for local addresses".

Why this setting changed after updating divx web I have no idea or why it even affects the web player. I have tried this on all three of my PC's with success. So after suffering for a year not being able to view the divx vids I host on my own site, it came down to two clicks.
