"fattas" gb på min hd

Var och köpte en 250 gb usb 2.0 extern hd idag. men när jag fört över det jag skulle och kollade så såg jag att det bara var 232 gb på informationen. jag förstår ingenting. var är de resterande 18 gb? jag vill ha dem också, jag har betalt för dem!

Welcome to the fun world of hard drive marketing. See, the HD manufactures say the 1000 bytes=kilobyte, 1000K=megabyte, and 1000MB=1Gigabyte. But really it's 1024 bytes=kilobyte, 1024K=megabyte, and 1024MB=1Gigabyte. So take 250X1000X1000X1000/1024/1024/1024=~232GB
