26/1 One Self (US/UK/SWE) @ Scratch, Pustervik!
Hej Svejs, nu på fredag är det äntligen dags att riva av ett efterlängtat Scratch på nyrenoverade, fräscha & upphottade PUSTERVIK. Detta tillfälle är ett s.k. numera klassikt "extra insatt" SCRATCH och sjukt hypat dessutom med inga mindre än ONE SELF, som består av frontfigurerna och vokalisterna Yarah Bravo & Blurum13. Legenden DJ Vadim styr säkert skivspelarna och samplern i bakgrunden som en kapten på sitt fartyg ackompanjerade av Bongo Pete på percussion samt en riktigt Funky drummer och en Trumpetare som vi ännu inte vet namnen på i dagsläget...
"Alltid lika förbannat najs med lite riktiga instrument i en hiphopshow" , som våra trogna stamgäster Veronika och hennes Valter sa tidigare i helgen på Mariaplan. (Ev. kommer även Yarah Bravo och en tjejkompis till henne från Sverige som också är MC, köra någon låt innan ONE SELF går på, så kom inte för sent nu folks.)
Så med 6 artister på pusterviks sprillans nya härliga scen inklusive en stenhård & funky rytmsektion samt blås, kommer denna kvällen bli ytterst magisk. Inte nog med det fina Gästbesöket, det är även Filmfestivals invigning denna kvällen så det kommer vara full rulle nu på Pustervik från fredag och 10 dagar framåt. Vi minns tidigare Filmfestivals Scratch med bl.a DJ Premier & R.A the Rugged Man, så det är faktiskt som någon prismedveten konsument påpekade t.o.m. så att ölen är 10 kr billigare under festivalen för folk som är törstiga och bryr sig om rusdrycker en sådan här kväll då musiken står i fokus.
One Self is a collaboration of like minds. Born within the culturally rich and ethnically diverse music scene of London and now living in Brooklyn NYC, One Self is the collaboration of DJ Vadim, Yarah Bravo and Blu Rum 13, engaging each other to create a world of possibilities and mixing together a global melting pot of musical ideas. Vadim's prominent releases on Ninja Tune gave him a platform to develop a touring unit of scratch dj's, rappers, musicians and beat boxers. This fluid group was known as the Russian Percussion and over a three year period, a total of more than 600 shows were rocked worldwide.
For Vadim, One Self was a natural progression as the 'Children of Possibility' Album took shape and the unit formed. The One Self band was premiered at London's famous Jazz Cafe to sell-out crowds, and has gone on to sell out venues including Cargo (London), The Red Club (St Petersburg) and have played at festivals to crowds of up to 14,000, most notably at Hip Hop Kemp (Czech Republic), The Big Chill (UK) and Sonar Festival (Spain). Vadim's progressive production and adept song crafting is complimented by the vocal gymnastics of your friendly neighborhood MC, Blurum13, and the sultry spoken word of the Mistress of Poetic Invention, Miss Yarah Bravo.
